Go buy a damn aftermarket gauge or borrow one and double check it. Or, hell, if you are feeling frisky go ahead and calibrate the oem sender to an aftermarket gauge. Autometer was like $60 and can be used a tool in the future if you don't want it in your car. Plain and simple. No one is going to diagnose your theoretic vtc problem from a forum post.
